Rhythm of Sand
Created for Eid 2024 at Ithra, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Rhythm of Sand was an interactive light installation inspired by the ever-shifting red sand dunes of the desert.
The design draws from the constantly changing forms of the dunes, shaped by wind and time. This natural movement was reinterpreted through light, structure, and form to create a space that feels both calm and alive. As the lights pulsed and rippled in choreographed patterns, they mirrored the rhythm of wind-blown sand, offering an immersive and contemplative experience.
Integrated seating encouraged visitors to pause and engage with the glowing landscape, while the modular steel and tensile structure allowed for multiple configurations. Playful yet poetic, Rhythm of Sand captured the essence of transformation, connection, and celebration that lies at the heart of Eid. It created a space for people to gather, reflect, and share in the moment together.
